The first step requires you to request a background check from JDP, our background check provider at $14.07. Verify your e-mail address is correct, then click the Request Background Check button below. JDP will then e-mail you directly to complete a form on their website.

There are issues with your Background Check

USSSA has received your background check from JDP. However there are issues with the results. You will be placed in the Pre-adverse action category. While in this step of the process you will not have access to any youth teams or information within our website. During this time you will be contacted by JDP (not USSSA) regarding the appeal process via e-mail. Follow the instructions in the communication provided by JDP. Please look in your inbox or junk folder as you have received an e-mail in reference to your background check that you will have the option to take next steps or not. If you do not receive the email within 5 days, please contact JDP via email at clientservices@JDP.com.

Why does USSSA now need to do a criminal background check on me?

All adults participating in USSSA who have contact with minor athletes are required to undergo a criminal background check that searches both the National Criminal Database and the National Sex Offender Registry, among other sources. These searches are due in part to insurance requirements.

What is my process for creating and registering my teams, and how does this affect it?

All Managers and Coaches will be required to have a clear Background Check before registering and creating a youth team in USSSA. If you wish to create a team, follow the steps here to process your background check. After it is completed and you are clear, you will be able to create a team in the traditional process. As an Assistant Coach, you will not have access to any teams until this process is completed.

Teams are not permitted to create themselves as an "A" level team. To be registered as "A" class, you must create yourself as a "AA" class team and petition your state director to move your class. Teams are not permitted to create themselves as a "C" level team. To be registered as "C" class, you must create yourself as a "B" or "Open" class team and petition your state director to move your class.

Important Insurance Notice

As part of your registration, USSSA offers insurance coverage through EPIC Brokers that includes General Liability and Participant Accident protection.

If you choose to opt out, you are acknowledging that you are declining coverage under USSSA’s insurance program and will be purchasing equivalent coverage through another provider. By proceeding, you accept full responsibility for securing appropriate insurance and understand that USSSA’s coverage will not apply. USSSA Coverage requirements for insurance purchased outside of USSSA are below.


General Liability: $1,000,000 per occurrence

Aggregate: $2,000,000

Participant Legal Liability: $1,000,000

Participant Accident Coverage: $100,000

Abuse and Molestation: $1,000,000 per occurrence/$2,000,000 aggregate
